Niners Beef Up the Line

What's a good way to get Candlestick Park hopping this season? How about Frank Gore dominating week after week? To assure that their stud running back does just that, the 49ers beefed up their offensive line Thursday night in the first round of the NFL draft.

The 'Niners started their night by trading from the 13th selection to the 11th to guarantee they get their guy is tackle Anthony Davis from Rutgers. At 6'6" 325 pounds, Davis will compliment starting left tackle Joe Staley.

"I wanted to go to the 49ers and I wanted to play for Coach Singletary," said Davis upon being selected, "I love the game and they'll see a guy who is ready to work and ready to learn."

With the 17th pick, the team further flexed their power offense philosophy by taking guard Mike Iupati from Idaho. The 6'5" 331 pound monster will provide stability along the offensive line for the next decade.

With Mike Singletary's style of football in full swing, things are clear that the 49ers are primed for a run at the division title, and more.

To help the team out, spread the word that on September 20th, 2010, it's time to Rock the Stick!
